6/8/2011 - Spring is here, which means summer art projects are not far behind! I am in "teacher mode" once again, with plans to teach classes in Creating Graphic Novels and Fashion Illustration to the young artist/scholars at the Summer Academy at the College of St. Rose, as well as Saratoga Arts and Malta Rec. I absolutely love working with these young art makers, and you can be sure that I learn as much from them as they ever learn from me! Plus all that teaching strengthens my own illustration chops, so it's a win/win for all of us.
My local Boarders closed, but luckily I, like you, can still go online to find copies of the books I've done for Pleasant Company. I love that "tween market", and my daughter, (practically a teen now), still loves showing my work to her friends. You can also find it too, at the Pleasant Company website. Check it out and let me know what you think! www.americangirl.com
I'm especially proud of my work on "All Made Up, a girl's guide to seeing through celebrity hype and celebrating real beauty", by Audrey D. Brashich, and published by Walker & Company. In these times that test a teenager's soul, this book really matters, reminding kids that there are better choices and models than the ones they encounter in the media every day! And--a new book is in the works with Barbour Publishing, all about friendship--looking forward to seeing that one blossom this spring as well!
